Squonk Opera brings peace to the cosmos…or at least the tri-state area! (September, 9, 2011)
We are staging Astro-rama, our big free outdoor show, at Cleveland’s hip annual IngenuityFest, one of America’s largest festivals of art and technology, on September 16 and 17 at 9:30 pm. We will be on a spectacular cantilevered bridge with “the best view in Cleveland” serving as our backdrop. Because the show is about our unity as a species on this tiny planet, we have decided to broach one of the most ancient animosities between our peoples. Cleveland has offered an olive branch to us Pittsburghers and all other citizens in the form of discounted hotel rooms at the beautiful downtown Crowne Plaza. To book your room at the low rate of $79/night, you MUST mention “Riverocity” when making your reservation. Just go to http://hotelsdowntowncleveland.com/ or call 216.771.7600. Please join us in this humanitarian effort to keep the peace and erase the rancor that has haunted our two proud cities!

Fun in Frostburg, MD (September, 6, 2011)
We just got back from a fabulous trip to Frostburg, Maryland – where we performed Astro-rama on the Upper Quad at Frostburg State University! The show was a great success – over 800 Frostburgers came out to help us beam our message of humanity out to the universe. A big Squonk thanks to Bill, Mary Jane, Melanie, the Frostburg techies and the student helpers for making it happen! Check out our tour photos on our Facebook page. We’re off to Cleveland next week for Astro shows on September 16 and 17 at 9.30 pm at Ingenuity Fest. Come join us!

New CD Now Available (October, 10, 2010)
“The new Squonk CD is thrilling and elegant, full of the rich humanity that defines Squonk Opera’s creative genius.” Now that’s a quote! Steve claims he saw this on page 3 of The New York Times last week, but we think he heard it from his mom. No matter! You don’t need some hack sitting in front of a computer in a Manhattan skyscraper to tell you which way the wind is blowing. You know the alluring scent of “creative genius” already. It’s got the stink of freedom. Buy your piece of the pie by clicking here – you can download a slice or get the whole pie!

Mayhem and Majesty hits the road this fall! (September, 1, 2010)
We leave for Seattle today where we will grace the stage of Seattle Rep at Bumbershoot, then we play at the Indianapolis Artsgarden and Benedicta Arts Center in St. Joseph, Minnesota. In October, we head to Stuart’s Opera House in Nelsonville, Ohio and Tri-C Presents in Cleveland. Most days, we have to refer to our website to know which way to point Autumn’s ’83 Pinto, which is packed like a clown car, so don’t feel bad if you need to.
